Audrey White was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of 61-year-old Milton Thompson.
Police say White was under the influence when her SUV hit Thompson’s motorcycle. Prosecutors said she had a blood-alcohol level of .19 which was over the legal limit of 0.08.
White started her prison sentence right away. When she is released, she will be on probation for five years.
More than a year ago, officers responded to the accident at the intersection of Florence Blvd. and Glendale Avenue at 10:10 p.m. Thompson, a resident of Florence, was found on the street and taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.
White was uninjured but she seemed to be impaired. Police later charged her with manslaughter, and she was taken to the Lauderdale Co. Detention Center.
